Important vampire info.

A lot of this information is not generally known to anybody but the vampires. This information is for the player, not the character. Please ask before "knowing" any of this in game

- Vampires have no brain waves, no heartbeat, no need to breathe and no electrical impulses whatsoever in their bodies.

- Fresh vampire blood is able to heal wounded humans as well as increase that person's strength, speed, reflexes, senses, stamina and physical appearance. They also gain more control over themselves. They also feel healthier and tend to be able to heal faster. Drinking vampire blood can also increase the libido. Duration depends on how much was ingested. Age of the vampire is also a very large contributing factor.

- Stale or less fresh vampire blood can be used a narcotic by humans and while it does everything that fresh vampire blood does, it can cause people to become high, mentally ill or cause humans to go into aggressive frenzies, attacking or killing others or themselves. This form of vampire blood, called V, hits every user in a different way. V can go so far as causing hallucinations as well. Duration depends on how much was ingested. Age of the vampire is also a very large contributing factor.

- Only old vampires are able to rouse themselves during the day and even then they will be weakened. Vampires who try and remain awake during the day in a room unexposed to daylight will not only be weakened but will get the 'bleeds', this is where blood will slowly leak out of them, weakening them further.

- Vampires who do not drink blood will become so thirsty that they will go into complete frenzies, draining anyone they meet. They will not die from not drinking blood, they will just become uncontrollable and sometimes mad. Vampires also become uncomfortable and begin to ache if they do not get blood. They become weaker also.

- Vampires find freshly deceased corpses and pure fairy blood irresistible and those with some fairy blood more appealing. Maenad blood is toxic to them.

- Vampires cannot eat normal food or drink normal drinks. Though victims who have taken drugs or had a lot to drink can pass this through their blood to the vampire. Some vampires enjoy this.

- There is only one disease vampires can catch. Sino-Aids/Sinovirus/Hepatitis D (depending on show vs book series). Vampires do not advertise this fact. Though it does not kill them, it does weaken them for about a month, leaving them vulnerable.

- To make a new vampire, a vampire must drain a human of all their blood, effectively killing that human, and replace it with some of their own blood. The vampire and drained human will then sleep in the ground for two to three nights until the drained human rises as a vampire. The newborn vampire will be thirsty and need to feed on blood. The newborn vampire will have to stay with their 'maker' for some time as the 'maker' shows the newborn vampire or 'ward' how to live the life of a vampire. Although having some control, newborn vampires will often lose control of their impulses and can cause serious harm or trouble. Newborn vampires must leave their human lives behind as they are likely on impulse to attack their family or friends.

Newborn vampires must answer to their maker and are unable to resist if their maker commands them to do something.

- Different people taste differently to vampires. Blood types are discernible to them. The only blood more coveted than virgin blood is that of babies.

- If a person has been told to forget something while under the influence of a vampire's "hypnotism", they will never remember what that thing was. Not even a telepath can discover what was taken from them. It is just a big blank spot in the memory.

Love it

NAME: Eric Northman
NICKNAMES/ALIASES: Eric The Northman, Lief
AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: He is over 1000 years old, but will not (or maybe cannot) produce an actual date.

POWERS: Eric's powers are typical of a vampire. Immortality, enhanced senses, superhuman speed, healing and superhuman strength. Due to his age, he is much stronger than most vampires, knowing only two personally who could outmatch him. Eric is also capable of flight. He can control the minds of humans and has the ability to remain completely still and silent, with not even a single blink to betray him.

HANDICAPS: Silver is toxic to Eric, but will only weaken him, not cause death. A stake to the heart would do him in, as would decapitation. If he is exposed to sunlight for too long, that would also kill him. Should he be drained of all blood and not treated promptly for it, this will also end his life.

He MUST be invited into a human's house, and the invitation can be rescinded at any time, forcing him to leave.

However, other typical vampire mythos objects have no effect, Eric has no issue with crucifixes, or wandering onto holy ground. Garlic only makes him sneeze.

APPEARANCE: Eric is of Viking decent. He stands quite tall at 6'5", and has a muscular build. His physical appearance is the epitome of those of ancient Scandinavian times. His hair is blond, and his eyes are blue. His skin is naturally pale, but has been made more so by many years of not seeing the sun. He used to wear his hair long, as a kickback to tradition, but wears it short now.

Eric is most comfortable in casual clothes. Jeans and a t-shirt, easy things that are comfortable to move around in. But he also has the costumes of his night life at the bar. Things he puts on to impress the fangbangers and fulfill their fantasies. This tends to be along the lines of black leather pants and open shirts. Or no shirt at all.

PHYSICAL QUIRKS: Eric's fangs come out when he's angry, turned on, or hungry. Other than that, he has nothing that would make him stand out in a crowd (aside from his size). He has no tattoos, no brandings, no piercings of any kind.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Despite only knowing English as his second language, Eric is quite fluent. Obviously, he knows Swedish as well as Norwegian and Danish. (Due in part to the dialect contiuum of the area making these languages largely mutally intelligable.) He is also fluent in Latin and Khmer.

It is rumored that Eric has preternatural abilities in bed.

RELATIVES: Pre-turning: Aude (wife), brother (unnamed), 6 children. Post-turning: Appius Livius Ocella (Maker), Pam Ravenscroft aka Pamela Swynford de Beaufort (child)

OCCUPATION: Owner of Fangtasia, a vampire themed tourist bar. Sheriff of Louisiana Area 5.

EDUCATION: The only formal education that Eric has is from a community college in the 1970's, where he took English As A Second Language.

TELL US SOMETHING WE DON'T KNOW: Occasionally Eric wonders what life might have been like had he remained a human. It's a passing fancy, but when he's in it's grip it's quite strong. He wonders if he would have taken his father's place, if he would have remarried, how long he might have lived, what his grandchildren would have been like. This latter often makes him wonder if he should seek out his family line and see if any of them still live. The knowledge that Bill Compton's family line survived to modern times both vexes him and makes him more curious.

HISTORY: When Eric was just twelve, he was deemed a man. When he was sixteen, he married his brother's widow, Aude. Together, Eric and Aude had six children, though only three of them survived. Aude and the sixth child both died of fever shortly after the birth. Eric was in his 20s then.

He was never asked if he wanted to be a vampire, never given a choice in the matter at all. One night he was ambushed by a Roman vampire named Appius. Appius pretended to be wounded on the side of the road, when Eric moved to help him, Appius attacked. He had been attracted by Eric's looks.

The bonds of maker and child kept Eric by Appius' side, despite what he might have felt about the man or the making. Appius forced Eric to be his lover for many years, though eventually Eric became used to it and even got to the point of enjoyment.

They moved across the world, though not much is known about this long period of Eric's life. He doens't talk about it much to anybody. The most he's said to anybody about the period before Fangasia is to tell briefly of his maker, and of the brief time he spent in the 70's taking English As A Second Language in a community college somewhere.

Eventually, Eric settled in Louisiana, being made the Sheriff of Area 5 due to his age, his strength and his cunning. He would prove a loyal subject to the Queen, Sophie-Anne.

When vampires made themselves known with the advent of the Japanese synthetic blood "True Blood", Eric opened up a tourist bar where Fangbangers (humans who love vampires and wish to be around them, even, perhaps, become one) could mingle with vampires, watch them, pretend to be like them. Even encounter them. This bar is called Fangtasia. It is staffed mostly by vampires, though there are a few humans scattered about in the form of entertainment and day staff. His own child, Pam, works the front and does other important tasks that he needs taken care of. Vampires do use this bar as a nightclub, and Fangbangers do get taken home sometimes. It's not strictly against the law, but it's certainly pushing it.

Eric is adjusting to life in the open quite well.  He likes not having to hide what he is from the world. And while he doesn't strictly adhere to the "no human blood" rule that they've as a whole promised, he doesn't blatantly leave bodies about.

Recently he's encountered a woman by the name of Sookie Stackhouse and all the trouble that she brings with her. But he is intrigued by her. She has powers that he has put to use, and has been plotting ways to have her permanently under his payroll. Or thumb, as it might be seen. The only thing truly stopping him is the claim of one Bill Compton of Sookie belonging to him. But really, that doesn't stop him very much.

PERSONALITY: Arrogant, calculating and brash, one might think Eric has little positive about him. The truth of the matter is that he's quite loyal and has a wonderful sense of humor. He is confident, calm and methodical, careful to keep his emotions in check, though he is capable of great amounts of affection. He just chooses carefully who he shows such things for. His affection for Pam is something he only shows when they're alone. Despite this ability toward affection, Eric is not sentimental.

Eric rarely loses his temper, but if pushed, he's capable of extreme violence. Eric has  no problems being viewed as the "bad guy".

He can be secretive about things, and those things can never be unlocked from him, but he is nothing but honest and direct about everything else. He is - however - not above using deceit in certain situations. Occasionally he can be quite the trickster.

Eric is also a very sensual being. He delights in the smells and tastes, and enjoys close physical contact. It is said about Eric that he is
"like a cat in his enjoyment of contact" (Club Dead). A possibly unnerving side effect of this part of him is that he also likes to maintain eye contact for longer than most people find comfortable.
